WhettStone primarily supports Microsoft SQL 2000, 2005, 2008 database servers†. WhettStone builds custom software tools around SQL database for easy access to your data. We begin with a discovery phase to determine the scope of work and services needed. During the discovery phase we determine if a web based application or windows application accessing the data would work best as part of your solution.

WhettStone Database Services are as follows:

Database Engineering & Design After we understand the potential uses of your data, we will engineer a database scheme that allows for import, export, query, reporting and your organizations other data requirements.
Database Development Once the scheme is decided, our database experts create the database. Based on predicted usage we will optimize the structure, adding things like indexes, primary keys, etc…
Data Import Bring current and legacy data together to be imported into a centralized database. Incoming data will be mapped to fields within the database. Some data may need to be converted to different formats upon import.
Data Export Ability to export data queried in a variety of different formats. (Generally we recommend CSV format as it is an industry standard.)
Data Entry Systems Development of application forms to allow ease of data entry into the system by your organization or a data entry team.
Data Query Systems Query your database using a query tool that allows you to search data by field criteria.
Custom Reports If you are looking for a canned set of reports that you can pull at the click of a button, you define report specifics and layout WhettStone will write the queries and build the reports. Need help with layout of the report or making sense of the data, WhettStone can help.
Data Backups & Archival As a general practice, your database is backed up nightly. Off site backups are stored for data recovery if needed. Archives of data can be stored when data is not in use to free space in your database. Additional backup schemes can be put into place to meet requirements (ex: Backup every 15 minutes).
Data Entry We can also help with data entry projects. Define the scope of work for a bid.
Web Interface or Windows Application If you are looking to present some or all of your data on a website or within a Windows application, WhettStone can assist with development of these applications.
